The structure of the WindBlock membrane grid is designed for low and extremely low temperatures, so that 80% of body heat is reflected from the surface inward, and only 20% (excess heat during active actions at low temperatures) exits the membrane grid. Most modern fabrics with surface-sprayed polyurethane membranes are not designed for extremely low temperatures, as polyurethane hardens at low temperatures, leading to the overall stiffening of the fabric. The consequence is the characteristic "crackling" when you move. The WindBlock thermal membrane fabric does not use polyurethane spray to protect the membrane, but rather a dense, structured pile in polyester (inside and outside the membrane), which protects the membrane from the effects of low temperatures, abrasion (both inside and outside), and creates an additional layer of warming Windblock air on the back towards the outside.
