Brief History
Glock 18 represents a variant of the well-known Glock 17, created at the request of the Austrian anti-terrorist group EKO Cobra. This submachine gun is capable of firing in both semi-automatic and fully automatic modes. The fire selector is located on the left rear side. Up - Semi, Down - Auto. The suffix C stands for Compensated, thus G18C is the variant where the slide features a cutout on the top to allow the barrel, which is also ported, to efficiently release gases vertically to compensate for the recoil generated by the weapon. Generally, these submachine guns can be used with standard Glock 17 magazines, but the use of special 33-round magazines is preferred.
Description
This airsoft replica initially presents an authentic Glock 18C, but upon first contact, we realize that something is not exactly as we expected. This is due to the fact that it is an electric-operated pistol. Instead of internal mechanisms and gas storage compartments, there is a miniature electric gearbox capable of propelling BBs from the airsoft replica in both semi and fully automatic fire modes.
Exterior of the Replica
The exterior of the airsoft replica is made from high-quality ABS plastic. The surface has increased grip due to the matte finish. The selector is functional with 2 positions, semi and auto. The slide catch is ornamental and serves no purpose. On the right side above the trigger is the pistol's safety. The slide of the airsoft replica is actually a cover, and to open it, the metallic button at the back of the slide must be pressed. The pistol's magazine is small and thin, totally unrealistic but with a great advantage: it can hold 30 6mm BBs.
Interior of the Replica
Once the slide is removed, we can observe the space designated for the battery and the mechanism that facilitates battery installation as well as hop-up adjustment. The airsoft replica is equipped with an adjustable hop-up system, greatly increasing the effective range despite the low speed of 50-55m/s measured with 0.20g BBs. Of course, it is recommended to use 0.20g BBs for optimal performance.
Power Supply
The airsoft replica package includes a 7.2V 450 mAh Ni-MH battery as well as a charger intended for charging it. It is recommended to use only quality batteries designed for AEP Glock 18C.
