A small component with a major impact. Made from a revolutionary material with extraordinary shock absorption properties, this component enhances the lifespan of internal parts such as the gearbox shell, piston, and of course, the gears. It is made from 70D Sorbothane and polyurethane for surface protection of the Sorbothane. It is installed on the surface of the cylinder head.

Equipment Specifications

Material Sorbothane, Polyurethane

Product Description

Brief History

Sorbothane is a material invented in 1982 out of the need for a material with good mechanical shock absorption properties. Sorbothane is a blend of materials with elastic properties similar to those of silicone, rubber, and other soft plastic polymers. This material is successfully used worldwide in various fields such as aerospace engineering, construction, and sports. Manufactured in various shapes, thicknesses, and hardnesses, Sorbothane effectively absorbs most mechanical shocks.

Description

This Sorbothane pad is used to cushion the shock between the piston head and the cylinder head in AEG replicas, thereby extending the lifespan of the entire assembly. The front end of the gearbox shell will break much harder, and the chances of cracking both the piston head and the cylinder head are reduced. The pad is made from Sorbothane and Polyurethane. The polyurethane exists to protect the integrity of the Sorbothane surface.

Due to its dimensions, this pad serves a dual purpose. The first role is to absorb mechanical shocks, and the second is to adjust the angle of engagement of the piston by the sector gear, known as AOE, Angle Of Engagement.

In most cases, this angle of engagement is incorrect, with the sector gear pulling the piston at the wrong angle, wearing down the first tooth and potentially breaking it over time. Using pistons with all-metal teeth even poses the risk of wearing down the first tooth of the gear, eventually leading to its breakage.
By applying the Sorbo-pad on the cylinder head, this angle of engagement is corrected, which is true in most cases, optimizing the engagement of the piston by the sector gear.
However, great care must be taken during installation. The last teeth of the piston must be configured correctly. The 2nd tooth of the piston must be completely removed, the 3rd reduced to half, and the 4th reduced by 1/4 of its original size. The pad is mounted on the surface of the cylinder head after removing the original rubber. It is secured with super glue. (The Sorbo-pad does not come with adhesive)

This Sorbo-pad is compatible with versions 2 and 3 of the gearbox for AEG replicas.

Airsoft6 assumes no responsibility for any material damage or injuries resulting from the use of this product. The user is solely responsible for their own actions. It is recommended to have it installed by personnel experienced in airsoft replica repairs.
