Presentation

The M16 is one of the most widespread assault platforms in the world. In 1959, the weapon manufacturer ArmaLite sold the rights to the AR-15 project (the future M16) to Colt. With just a few modifications both internally and externally, Colt launched this assault rifle into service with the United States Air Force under the name XM16E1. By 1965, the XM16E1 was widely adopted by the U.S. military with the aim of replacing the classic M14. Shortly thereafter, in 1967, with minor internal modifications, the XM16E1 acquired the well-known name M16A1 and became the most used assault rifle in the U.S. military.

Much later, in 1980, the M16A2 model appeared, intended to replace the M16A1. This model was significantly improved over the A1 based on feedback from American soldiers. From the exterior appearance and improvements in materials and component design to the internal mechanisms, everything was refined. A major difference between the A1 and A2 is the firing mode. The A2 model allows only a 3-round burst, completely eliminating the Auto function, aiming to improve user efficiency and ammunition consumption. The A3 version is essentially an A2 with the A1 mechanism, allowing for Auto function.

Finally, we can discuss the M16A4 variant, which appeared in 2004 and replaced the M16A2 found on the front lines of the army. This model offers a series of advantages for modern combat. The upper handguard can be removed, allowing for the attachment of other sighting devices. The front handguard can be either round like the M16A2 or in a rail system format, allowing for the attachment of tactical devices.

Exterior of the Replica

The Cyma CM.009 replica closely resembles the M16A4 model while maintaining the Auto function. The airsoft replica is made of metal but retains elements that are normally made of plastic, such as the grips and stock, which are made of durable ABS plastic. The upper handguard, like the A4 model, can be removed for the attachment of an advanced sighting device. The airsoft replica has a length of 1000 mm, thus falling into the DMR category. The integrated sighting system is, of course, adjustable. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage, while the front sight is adjustable only for elevation. The body of the airsoft replica is devoid of any markings, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. It is made from aluminum and magnesium alloys, making it lightweight yet durable.

Interior of the Replica

Inside, we find a standard version 2 metal gearbox. Being standard, the upgrade possibilities are very good. The bushings are metal, as are the gears. The piston is made of quality polycarbonate. The airsoft replica is equipped with an adjustable hop-up chamber, thus improving effective range. The hop-up chamber is made of metal and the adjustment is consistent. The inner barrel has a length of 509 mm and an inner diameter of 6.08 mm. The speed of the airsoft replica is approximately 120-125 m/s measured with 0.20g BBs. It is recommended to use 0.25g BBs for optimal performance.

Power Supply

The package of the airsoft replica includes a mini 8.4V 1200mAh battery and a charger for this battery. It is recommended to use a 9.6V 2000-3000 mAh battery due to the large storage space inside the stock. Access to the battery compartment is through a door located on the stock of the airsoft replica. It is not recommended to use a battery with a voltage higher than 9.6V as it may damage the airsoft replica.
