Brief History
Designed in 1994 and shortly thereafter entering the market, this AK 103 is derived from the AK 74 model with some modifications. The gas tube is at a 90-degree angle, and the front and rear attachments of the mechanisms have also been altered. Instead of wood, synthetic resins have been used, making the weapon lighter. Thus, this weapon, with its reduced weight and improved mechanism, achieves good accuracy and reliability, managing to keep up with the competition of modern era firearms.
Exterior of the Replica
The airsoft replica manufactured by CYMA successfully mimics the original AK 103 model. The body of the replica is made of quality ABS plastic, contributing to a reduction in weight. The outer barrel, as well as the attachments and mechanisms, are made of metal, ensuring good durability. The construction is similar to the Tokyo Marui model. The front part and the body of the airsoft replica are assembled with 4 screws. This model facilitates access to the inner barrel and Hop-Up chamber. Elements such as the outer barrel, sights, and body joints are made of metal, providing increased resistance.
Interior of the Replica
The Hop-Up adjustment is located inside the ejection port; this adjustment is linear and precise. The Hop-Up chamber is made of ABS plastic, which should not be a concern, as the molding quality is very good, thus there are no issues with feeding BBs. The accuracy and consistency of the airsoft replica are good.
The gearbox is version 3, known for its durability. Of course, it is also constructed from metal, as are the gears. The piston, piston head, and cylinder head are made of polycarbonate. The BB speed is somewhere between 110 and 115 meters per second measured with 0.20g BBs. It is recommended to use 0.25g BBs for optimal performance.
Power Supply
The space allocated for the battery is not very large, but it can be fully utilized by using a LiPo battery no larger than 7.4V and 2800mAh. The maximum recommended battery is 9.6V, as using a larger battery risks damaging the toy.
