The project was continued by Colt Industries and after intense testing, the project was approved. In 1911, it was introduced as standard equipment in the American army. The pistol was revised in 1924, with minor changes to its exterior. Since then, it has remained unchanged. After a century of use worldwide, the Colt 1911 remains the most significant pistol in human history.
