Presentation

APS Limited, or more broadly Accuracy Pneumatics Shooting, was founded in 2001 and initially focused on the development and manufacturing of training equipment such as Markers and special ammunition for these Markers. Over time, APS has also developed its Airsoft branch, thus producing airsoft replicas and accessories.

The presented replica is part of the Spyder series, specifically the ASR 114 model. An airsoft replica recommended for assault and CQB. The manufacturer has equipped this wonderful toy with the new Keymod front rail system, allowing users to arrange the rails according to their preferences in a very short time.

Exterior of the Replica

The ASR 114 airsoft replica is primarily made from metal alloys, contributing to a lightweight design that enhances maneuverability. The front features an innovative modular rail system called KEYMOD, of the free float type. The front part of the outer barrel can be removed, allowing for the installation of a suppressor or other devices. There is a standard rail along the entire top of the airsoft replica, allowing for the mounting of almost any type of advanced sighting device; red-dot, scopes, and more. This airsoft replica is also equipped with a classic foldable sight system, requiring the pressing of a button on the front to operate the sights. The plastic elements of this toy include the motor grip and stock. The stock of the airsoft replica is adjustable, of the SOPMOD type, and allows for the installation of crane-type batteries.

For attaching a sling, the swivel above the grip can be used.

Interior of the Replica

The heart of the airsoft replica is a next-generation version 2 gearbox from the folks at APS. More specifically, the Silver Edge Gearbox. This shiny gearbox is equipped with mechanical blow-back and a system for removing the internal spring without disassembling the gearbox. Quite useful nowadays considering the ever-changing airsoft locations, CQB, Forest, Urban, and so on.

The interesting part is the compatibility of the internal components with the standard TM platform. Gears, Piston, Cylinder, and other bits are compatible with the vast majority of upgrade components available on the market. Notably, the 8 mm bearings significantly reduce power consumption during operation and enhance the finish of the gearbox casing.

The hop-up chamber is metal, making it much more resistant to wear. When correctly adjusted, the hop-up adjustment will provide superior effective range. It should be noted that there may be traces of grease inside the hop-up chamber and the inner barrel, so careful cleaning of the hop-up assembly is recommended. This airsoft replica is equipped with an active bolt catch. Once the charging lever is activated, the protective tab of the ejection port will remain open until the bolt catch is engaged, greatly facilitating the adjustment of the hop-up adjustment. The speed of the airsoft replica is approximately 115-120m/s measured with 0.20g BBs. For optimal performance, 0.25g BBs are recommended.

Power Supply

With the purchase of the airsoft replica, it is recommended to acquire a LiPo battery of a maximum of 7.4V and in a shape that allows installation in the SOPMOD stock or a NiMh no larger than 9.6V mini crane type. Any higher voltage may severely damage the toy. It is recommended to use high-quality BBs for optimal performance and to ensure the proper functioning of the airsoft replica.
