WARNING:
- Nickel-Metal-Hybrid (NiMH) batteries can be dangerous.
- The user must take all precautions against: potential fire, bodily harm, and property damage.
- If improperly used, damaged, or defective, NiMH batteries can catch fire, produce smoke, and cause poisoning.
- By purchasing this type of battery, the user assumes responsibility for any risks associated with NiMH batteries.
- NiMH batteries are not toys and should not be left within reach of children as they can pose a real health hazard.
- NiMH batteries should not be thrown into fire, placed in an oven or microwave as they may explode.
- NiMH batteries contain harmful chemicals.
- Do not attempt to charge mechanically or chemically damaged batteries.
Actions Leading to Battery Damage
- Connecting in series or parallel with another cell or battery even if they appear similar.
- Exceeding maximum and minimum operating voltages.
- A drop or rise in temperature outside the allowed limits.
- A charging current that is too high.
- Using a charger without battery detection.
- Short-circuiting the battery terminals.
- Subjecting the battery to mechanical shocks such as: dropping, hitting, bending, cutting, twisting, deforming, or puncturing.
- Contact with liquids.
- Improvising an inadequate charging setup.
- Using inappropriate or improvised charging cables.
General Information
- NiMH battery packs are made up of cells.
- Each NiMH battery has a power connector that is usually also used for charging.
- It is recommended to charge batteries with chargers equipped with automatic shut-off when fully charged.
- The charging current should not exceed 50% of the battery's total capacity.
- The nominal voltage of the battery is determined by the number of cells. For example: 7 cells = 8.4V, 8 cells = 9.6V.
- Each cell has a maximum voltage of 1.4V that must not be exceeded during charging and a minimum voltage that must not drop below 0.84V.
- It is recommended to charge NiMH batteries with the lowest possible current.
- It is recommended to maintain the charge-discharge cycles as accurately as possible.
